yoga

2.07.2013

A few years ago, I used to do yoga about 2-3 times a week and I'm not really sure why I stopped. It gave me more strength, flexibility, and my posture was better. I now go to the gym twice a week and do ballet twice a week however I really miss my yoga and I'm quite positive that I can fit an hour a week or more into my schedule.
I began my first session at home last night right before bed. I was pumped and let me tell you, it was probably the best sleep I had in a while! What I had never done before and incorporated some in yesterday's jam were some beginner arm balances. WHOA!!! I thought my face was going to plant into the ground a few times. But I worked hard and pulled through.
My first arm balance: Crow Pose or Bakasana, which strengthens the arms, inner thighs and abdomen. It improves your balance and builds focus. All of which I so desperately need :)
Follow me in my journey of yoga for beginner/intermediate. I will post my progression every once and a while, will do my best for once a week.

This is awesome! I've been easing my way back into yoga as well. I used to do it almost daily, but then I bought a treadmill and it sort of fell by the wayside. I find that the treadmill makes my muscles tighten up a lot so I've been reincorporating yoga into my routine and it makes a world of difference. I definitely notice I have more focus after as well. Oh, and I totally know what you mean about arm balances. I'm always convinced I'm going to come out with a chipped tooth or something!
