glitter

8.07.2011

I didn't want to let you guys know that I was making another dress for a few weddings I have this year, just in case the project got botched up, however it turned out great and I'm extremely excited to show it to you all.
Yesterday, I attended 2 of the 6 weddings I have this year. One of them being a gay wedding.
I received more compliments last night than I've ever received in my entire life. And receiving compliments from gay men is by far the highest paid compliment I can ever get. They truly mean it because they're getting nothing out of it :)
The idea for the dress is based on this All Saints dress that I saw on a friend of mine. I tried it on and it just didn't fit quite right on me. So off to the market I go to buy some fabric. I found this beige sequin fabric on sale which in total cost me $3.00 for the amount that I needed. I brought it to a seamstress friend of mine because I didn't even know where to begin in making it and presto...what do you guys think?

Two things you can tell by looking at the picture below:
1. I bite my cuticles. I can't help it but at least I don't bite my nails anymore.
2. I'm terrible at painting my own nails.

dress: my own design
shoes: Aldo
clutch: Ardene (old)
cocktail ring: Ardene (old)

Looks great on you, but being honest, doesn't look like you can dance away without flushing your bottom in it, is it comfy to wear as well? By the way, congrats on your great artistic talent!

Lena Antonacci said...

@ Anonymous: lol...fist pumping I did not! If I lift my arms you can see the bottom of my butt cheek. But nowadays there are girls that wear shorter shorts. I'm not a crazy dancer who flails her arms all around so I managed to go through the entire evening without anyone seeing my goods. Plus, I would never pull a Britney...I was wearing panties, just in case :)

Gorgeous! I haven't been reading your blog as religiously as I'd like! But I just came across this post, I used to bite my nails ALL the time, and then also moved to my cuticles.. One thing that I have made a habit is trimming my cuticles every night, I know you aren't supposed to, but its better than biting at them! Try it, you'll become obsessed with making your cuticles look great! :)

I love this!! Would you be willing to make a similar dress for someone else as a bridesmaid dress? Please email me back if so, willing to pay!!!

Lena Antonacci said...

@ Jackie: I would love to have my seamstress make another for you however I'm not sure the store still has this fabric. I found it in the sale section.

Oh my god are you selling this? Because I totally would love to talk to you about this. Or the specs to make this dress would be fantabulous. I literally stopped dead in the tracks on chictopia and had to stalk your blog at this very moment to find it. Please email me! mkaraan@gmail.com
