DIY - pyramid studded flats

3.07.2013

Ever since I saw these Valentino shoes, I fell in love. However, my wallet didn't due to a whopping price tag of $895 (current price)!!!

So, I either had two choices.
1. Buy the knock-offs which are still at a little over $100.
2. DIY some old shoes that I had in my closet.

Option 2 seemed like the wiser, cheaper choice. If ever I botched up the DIY (which I tend to do), option 1 will be my back up. Luckily for me, I was having a good day and the DIY turned ok.
Now my shoes are flats instead of kitten heeled as the originals but once I came across these Zara shoes, I knew my DIY was going to put my old shoes back on trend.

So here is my before picture (YAWN):

Here is what you'll need:

- Permanent Adhesive made to stick on all surfaces. I purchased mine (Quick Grip) at Walmart in the arts & crafts section.

- Tweezers. You want your best to avoid getting glue all over the place plus you need these to handle those teeny tiny pyramid studs.

- Pyramid studs with flat back, colour and size of your choice. I went with the colour gold and size 7mm which I purchased from the Etsy shop StudsRus. Fast shipping, great communication, studs are perfect.

And for the pièce de résistance, the after photo:
I took this picture right after I finished. Once the glue dried and the studs set, I cleaned up the extra glue around the studs.
I'm in love with the end result and can't wait until it gets warmer out to wear them!
