Carmelita Bars


A food post was in my future nearer than I expected. I couldn't resist baking these delicious Carmelita Bars from my new favorite website Desserts Easy & Quick (
Thumbs up from everyone that's tasted them!

Ingredients for crust/topping:

2 cups flour
2 cups oatmeal
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cup melted butter

Ingredients for yummy gooey center:

12oz chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (I used pecans)
12oz caramel ice cream topping
6 tbsp. flour

1. Combine crust/topping ingredients and press 1/2 of mixture in a greased 9X13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

2.Make a layer of chocolate chips over baked mixture.

3. Make a layer of nuts over layer of chocolate chips.

4. Combine caramel topping with flour.

5. Pour caramel topping over layer of nuts.

6. Top with remaining crumb mixture.

7. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Once baked, chill for easy cutting.

Here is a picture of a beautiful brunch my mother prepared for Father's Day. Aside from the sausages, I ate at least 1 of everything on the table. I was stuffed but completely satisfied :)
