spring cleaning in the closet

3.03.2011

It's that time again where I clean out my closet with the old to bring in the new. I don't have anything new yet but I'm sure stuff will be pouring in. Ok, maybe not pouring in as I did not suddenly win the lottery but I will be shopping.
Anywho...as I was in the closet I came across these white stilettos. I'm really having a hard time deciding if I should part with them or not. The outfit doesn't do them justice as, well...it's not that pretty. So just try to imagine them in a stylish outfit. If you're not able to...then out the door they go.

inspiration

Lots of reds, bright pinks, bold colours, large envelope clutches, accordian pleats, camel coats, maxi skirts, crop pants, etc. I'm loving the trends for Spring. Gotta get my butt to the stores quick!!

making the best of it

I decided to make the best of Andrew's business trips by asking him to buy me clothing at stores that we do not have here in Montreal.
This trip, I surprisingly enough only asked him for 2 items.

(Sometimes there are shoes that Aldo UK carries that we in Canada unfortunately do not.)

Now I also saw the following pieces on the Topshop website but I figured, instead of spending money on these why not visit my local thrift shop and just find items to DIY to make them look like these.

How hard could it be to find similar items and then just cut off the sleeves? (knock on wood...don't want to jinx myself)
So this Saturday, I am off thrift shopping. And my other task while he's away to pass the time, other than  being a good mommy of course, is going to buy different fabrics and making myself some maxi skirts. One pattern and a few different fun fabrics. Leopard print or any animal print for that matter, tie dye, sheer, bold colours, etc.
Let's see what I can manage to get done before his arrival next Thursday.

P.S. An update on Liam's pediatrician appointment yesterday. After receiving 4 vaccinations, the trooper  cried for less than a minute and then he was fine :) He weighs in at 14.3lbs putting him in the 95th percentile and his height is in the 85th percentile. He's got great muscle tone and looks fantastic. In conclusion, I was told by the doctor that mommy and daddy are doing a great job!
That's such awesome, relieving news to hear :)

not a good day today

3.02.2011

I've been dreading this day for a few weeks now for 2 reasons:

1. Andrew leaves today on a 8 day business trip. Is it normal to still cry during goodbyes even after 7 years of being together? Will I ever get over this...I mean, do I have to cry every single friggin time!!
2. Liam turns 2 months old today and you know what that means...his 2 month check-up at the pediatrician which also means...VACCINATIONS TIME!

Poor kid doesn't know what's in store for him. Let's just hope he gets through it ok. I wonder who it will be more painful for, me or him :(
