my week in photos

2.21.2012

I finally bought myself an iphone and joined the land of the technological advanced :)The first app that I downloaded...Instragram! Gotta tell you, not a big fan. Maybe I'm not using it correctly but I don't see what all the hype is about. It doesn't zoom in and it's frozen on me a few times. To all you iphoners, any apps you love that you'd recommend?
Here are some shots of my week last week, taken with my iphone.

Sewing the ribbons and elastics on my first pointe shoes.

I surprised Andrew with a pizza dinner for Valentines day. This is my pizza...

and this is Andrew's heart shaped pizza. He's allergic to cheese the poor thing hence the pepperoni 'I Love You' on my pizza. It would be difficult to read on his.

Andrew surprised me with tickets to watch the Montreal Canadiens play the Boston Bruins. I was born and raised in Montreal but I'm a Bruins fan...have been for over 15 years. The Bruins won that night and I was happy. Andrew not so much. He's a die hard Canadiens fan.

My sister who's taking cake making classes, baked this cake for our dad's big 6-0 birthday. It was delicious despite the fact that the icing made my lips turn black making me look like a gothic princess.

The night after my first pointe class. I'm not completely on my box and my arches are not pretty but hey...it's the first time in my life that I put on a pair of pointe shoes. I'm 34 years old and living my dream, that's all that matters.

We treated my dad to a birthday supper at La Senzala. He is obssesed with Brazil or should I say, Brazilian women. My poor mom :( lol Anyway, we are unable to bring him to brazil therefore a Brazilian restaurant will suffice. The food was great and the entertainment (dancers & live band) were a joy to watch and listen to. As you can see in the pic, my dad loved it!

dilallo burger

2.01.2012

Not an outfit post but this burger could not go unspoken of. It is your basic 2 buns, meat patty, tomato, cheese, mustard, lettuce, ketchup burger but there's just something about it that makes it by far my favorite burger in Montreal. This burger's home is a fast food joint called Dilallo burger.

Oh yeah baby, straight to my thighs!

macaroni bar

8.28.2011

Saturday night was spent with friends, laughter, and great food at Macaroni Bar. I've eaten gnocchi's at every restaurant that has them on the menu, including places in Italy which you would think would have the best pasta and Macaroni Bar has by far the best gnocchi's ever!!! They melt in your mouth like cotton candy. Yum!
I tried my best to take great outfit shots but with no flash and the fact that it was 1:30am made it impossible.

My favourite alcoholic drink...Amaretto Sour.

Pork lollipops...they were interesting.

Rice croquette with spinach and goat cheese.

Andrew's meal...he's such a man's man...typical burger and fries.

Andrew & Enzo...don't they remind you of the guys from the movie 'Due Date'? lol

birthday in the PM

8.22.2011

For my birthday, the tradition has been that Andrew takes me out to a new restaurant that neither of us has tried. The restaurant choice of this year was Cafe Via Dante. My rating, 5/10. Sorry babes, not your fault!

As an entree, I had tomatoes with mozzarella di bufala and olive oil. You can't go wrong with this dish...but they did. They sprinkled sea salt on it in which the chunks of salt were as big as my head. Take a bite out of that and try not to squint your eyes. My main dish was better. Veal piccata with a side of polenta and rapini. No complaints. I didn't like the dessert choices therefore I left without satisfying my sweet tooth. Big no-no in my books. The restaurant seats about 60 people and it was full which is great for them but bad for me seeing as they had no air conditioning!!! My hair was a frizz ball by the end of the evening. Yes, it didn't help that I was in a knit sweater but my outfit was perfect for the exterior weather and I was anticipating AC. Maybe I went on a wrong night but it's not a place I would go back to based on this experience.
Better luck next year my love :)

Cheers to another great 34 years!

Can you see the sea salt?

ice house

7.10.2011

Yup, I know...I haven't posted in sooooo long. Last week I was sick and this week was beautiful out, plus Andrew was on vacation therefore we took advantage of the sunny weather by swimming at his parents pool. I finally got some colour on this pasty white skin which is pasty no more :)
The only time we actually went out was this night where we joined my brother-in-law Adam & his girlfriend for supper at a new restaurant called Ice House located in Plateau Mont-Royal. I give it 4 stars out of 5 only because the dessert menu consisted of 2 choices and we went with warm chocolate cookies which ended up being stale and tasted like butter. I gotta say though that the dessert is not what you go there for. BBQ spare ribs, crispy battered chicken, shrimp, biscuits, cornbread, coleslaw, potato salad & brisket sandwich's is what we ate accompanied by their bourbon-lemonade. And I didn't mind at all eating this food which was dumped on a paper runner on our picnic table. Great Texas style eatery!! The atmosphere was great...mind you, when you go out with Adam, you're guaranteed an entertaining evening.

saturday night

8.22.2010

My honey took me out for a birthday supper last night. I gotta admit, my man's got great taste and sure knows how to pick a restaurant. It was the first time that I ate every single last bite from all my servings. We both left content and stuffed to the brim.
Thanks baby for a wonderful evening!!
First pic of the night and the flash surprised him...lol He really had his eyes open and wasn't just pulling a "I'm praying peacefully that my wife likes the place I've chosen" face.

Even my virgin daiquiri was to die for.

My antipasto...arugula salad with prosciutto, figs & parmesan.

What a clown!! I love him so much :)

I need to tell you all that if there is going to be gnocchi on the menu, you know I'm ordering it. I've had gnocchi all over and as this wasn't my favorite, I definitely give it a 9/10. Potato gnocchi in a four cheese truffle sauce. Just a tad too much truffle oil, hence the 9/10. However, still extremely delicious as I ate the plate clean :)

Of course we can't leave a restaurant without some dessert and boy was this some tasty treat. Profiteroles with chocolate sauce! I was already stuffed like a sausage at this point but who can resist this dish.

No I didn't just eat like a pig, this is actually my 5 month belly bump...lol
