DIY or die

7.21.2015

Stick your hand in the bottom of your purse and rummage around a little. Whatd’ya find? I found $12. Geez, Louise, I’m rich!

I'm gonna pop some tags
Only got twelve dollars in my pocket”

*6 hours later*

After all my fave shops were vandalized by moi, I headed over to someplace unexpected. I headed to the thrift shop. And guess what I fouuuuuund!

This amazing black blazer. And because the fit wasn't quite right, I took care of it with some scissors. After coppin' it, washin' it, 'bout to go and get some compliments, I was ready to reintroduce it as this cute vest. paired it with some cutoffs to keep the theme going and voila!

No description needed, I mean come on! Savin' my money and I'm hella happy that's a bargain, bitch.
I will give a shiny new dolla to anyone who can find all the references to Thrift Shop by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

striped and bound

7.20.2015

3 stripes you're...in? That's right. EVERYONE's in when sporting stripes.

Except you, Patrice. Nobody asked you.

Stripes have been on the rise these past few seasons, straying away from the traditional "sailor" look and getting integrated into pretty much every look possible. Move over, basic tee, hello striped relaxed tee.
With old saying "stripes make you look wide" being tossed out the window, we've clearly proven them (whoever "them" is *cough* PATRICE *cough cough*) WRONG.

As casual as the loose striped tee may be, you can pair it with the ever so popular lace up pointy flats *tips hat "m'lady"* to make it appropriate for work (unless you take your clothes off at work, then more power to ya). The loose tee is usually long enough for leggings, so you can do that, but if it isn't, leggings aren't pants and I can see your camelt--never mind.

What I'm trying to say is, go for a jogger pant if you're not sure about the whole cooch covering ratio.
What I will actually say is, get a striped tee, betch, life is too short. But not short enough to wear leggings as pants. That's just. Ugh.

polarized specs

7.17.2015

"I only got 10 likes in the last half hour, do you think I should take it down?"
Story of our lives, glued to Instagram or Facebook. But that's life, now! We are all addicted to social media. And our jobs now require us to work from computers and laptops for, like, 8 hours a day (that's a third of your day!!!). When you calculate how much time you spend looking at a screen vs another human being, it's cray. Bet you don't even remember how ugly your brother is.
(Not so) fun fact: 150 times. That's the average number of times you'll ogle your instafeed and sext text your bf in a day.

It's time to improve the quality of time we spend in a virtual universe. It's time for, drum roll please...

(duh-duh-duhhhhh)

These awesometacular specs are made specifically to protect your peepers from the artificial light and blue glare of your computer/phone. The polarized lenses act as a filter and transform the blue light into natural light...helping in the elimination of migraines and eye strains that you are most probably experiencing, you instah*e. Did I mention they look amazing? So trendy, you gotta get a few pairs. They're non-prescription glasses, for all you faux-hipsters out there. Go ahead, I dare you to treat your baby blues.

Here's a little help. Use coupon code "Coconut" (valid for 10 days on all online catalogue items except for the sales category) at check-out and receive a 30% discount!

where's the cooch?

7.14.2015

If you've had your nose in any fashion magazine lately (don't lie, I saw you at the dentist casually glancing at the VOGUE December 2008 issue, but that's not what I mean). Any recent fashion mag has been RAVING about the new pant that's got everyone wondering: where has my ass gone? Yes, it's none other than the famous culottes. An extra wide, capri cut pant, often presented in a crepe-like fabric or wrinkly-looking linen. A few seasons ago you woulda been like yooo my nana wears those no waaayyy, but now? They've totally grown on us. And the perk? You can still flash your husband from across the room BECAUSE THEY'RE SO LOOSE. It's a win-lose for him, because you will HAVE to flash him in order to receive forgiveness for wearing man's new enemy (But where's your butt and thighs, he'll ask. Exactly, you'll reply.).

Have you tried a pair? They're scary, I know. Even Nicki Minaj was like, I can't even see my cooch in these, but it's ok! Pair them with a loose top like you just don't care and you'll be so comfortable you won't want anything to do with leggings for the rest of the summer.
